Pretziada is a creative practice, based in Sardinia, that promotes the territory's heritage through words, photography and a collection of design objects made with local artisans. Kyre Chenven, a native Californian, and Ivano Atzori, a native Milanese, moved to southwest Sardinia four years ago to work with artisans on the revival of local crafts. Sometimes they work directly with artisans, curating specific creations, while other pieces are the result of short trips they take with international creatives, introducing them to the island and its culture.

Sardinia has always included zoomorphic and anthropomorphic references in its iconography. Ambroise Maggiar was inspired by the clawed feet of the important wooden trunks that embellished the home of every wealthy Sardinian family. With Mannu, these feet become the center of the studio, rather than a detail. The top half is carved from solid ash wood, with a meticulously hand carved top crafted by Karmine Piras. The bottom is machine cut by CP Basalti from a creamy local marble called “marmo di Orosei”, which has various sediments which cause both eddies and droplets, and which often contain trapped shells.
