Bitossi Ceramiche
The Bitossi family has been in the Montelupo Fiorentino area since 1536. Over the centuries the Bitossis have been kilnsmen, sculptors and painters but above all they dedicated themselves to ceramics, an already ancient tradition of this place, introducing an extraordinary stylistic renewal in the first decades of the twentieth century and formal. In 1921 Guido Bitossi founded the homonymous artistic majolica factory, proposing a production still linked to the tradition and classic styles of the past with refinement and study of the product. The evolution in the modern sense began in the early 1950s, when the artistic direction was entrusted to Aldo Londi, a man with an innate creative and aesthetic sense, attentive to changes in taste and the uniqueness of Italian products. Over the years many designers have dealt with the production of the Bitossi Manufacture, giving life to new productions: first among them the architect Ettore Sottsass, who began to frequent the Bitossi factory in 1955 to experiment and create new modern ceramics. Its collections will open a new chapter in the history of Italian design. Bitossi Ceramiche, still located today in the historic headquarters of 1929, led by Ginevra Bocini, fourth generation of the Bitossi family, represents the Italian excellence of "Made in Italy" in the world.
