Patricia Urquiola

Patricia Urquiola is a Spanish designer born in Oviedo in 1961. She initially attended the Universidad Politécnica in Madrid and then completed her studies in Milan, where she graduated under the guidance of Achille Castiglioni, who directed her towards product design. In 2001, after years of various collaborations with names such as Castiglioni himself and Magistretti, she opened her own studio in Milan, which today has a team of seventy people. Her projects range from interior objects to architecture and fair fittings, working with materials that are often recyclable (such as glass, plastic and terracotta) and with traditional techniques, all reinterpreted in a contemporary and innovative key. In 2015 she became artistic director of Cassina, continuing to collaborate with brands such as Flos, B&B and Driade.
