Axel Schmid

Axel Schmid seeks a customized solution for each design task. His work focuses on the object in its specific situation. He has been researching the effect of light on our senses and space for over 20 years. "For Axel Schmid, light is not only essential to life, but also a medium that materializes spatial qualities." The lamp »Jetzt« (Now), which he designed, was included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art ( MoMA ) in New York. He trained at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Klaus Lehmann and Richard Sapper , and gained his first experience as a designer in Finland and Japan . Since 1998, he has worked in Munich with and for Ingo Maurer .
