Carlo Scarpa

From architecture to glass, from design projects to museum installations, Carlo Scarpa's work always stands out for the unmistakable trait with which he manages to combine the love for materials, attention to detail and the skilful elaboration of Wrightian and organic poetics. Architect, designer, artist, Scarpa left the Venice Academy of Art in 1926 and began working as a professional, at the same time maintaining contact with artisan workshops and Venetian master glassmakers. For twenty years, until the mid-1940s, he received numerous commissions for the design of buildings, renovations and installations.
