Jorgen Gammelgaard

Jørgen Gammelgaard (1938-1991) was a Danish cabinetmaker, industrial designer and professor, famous for his refined minimalism. Passionate about new production techniques, he created elegant and functional furniture, working with natural materials and stainless steel. Trained in the Danish artisan tradition, he collaborated with masters such as Arne Jacobsen and Mogens Koch, studying at the Royal Academy under Ole Wanscher and Poul Kjærholm. In 1973 he founded his own firm, working as a consultant for the Technological Institute and UNESCO on projects in Samoa, Sri Lanka and Sudan.
