The Le Bambole collection by B&B Italia, designed by Mario Bellini in 1972, is an icon of Italian design that received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1979. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, B&B Italia has presented a re-edition, reinterpreting the project with a sustainable and innovative approach. The collection includes the Bambola armchair, the Bibambola two-seater sofa, the Granbambola three-seater sofa and the Bamboletto bed.
B&B Italia
Founded in 1966, B&B Italia is an Italian company that is a leader in the international design furniture sector, both domestic and collective. Its headquarters are located north of Milan and boasts a prestigious building designed in 1972 by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. Its furniture, sofas, armchairs and even outdoor products have contributed to writing the history of Italian design, spreading the “Made in Italy” on international markets. It is precisely from the alchemy between creativity, innovation and industrial capacity that modern furnishing elements emerge, highly distinctive and characterised by great quality and “timeless” elegance.
Mario Bellini, born in 1935 in Milan, is an internationally renowned architect and designer. He graduated in architecture in 1959 at the Polytechnic of Milan, where he was a student of Gio Ponti. In the 1960s he began his activity in the world of design, opening a professional studio. From 1963 he became chief design consultant at the Olivetti company. He has received the Golden Compass Award eight times and twenty-five of his works are in the permanent design collection of MoMA in New York. Since the 1980s Bellini has dedicated himself almost entirely to architecture, designing numerous buildings all over the world.
