The AEO armchair, designed by Paolo Deganello of the Archizoom group in 1973, is an experimental seat that challenges the traditional canons of design. Conceived as an alternative to the luxury of the time, it is characterized by innovative materials, a disassembled structure and removable covers. Born to be accessible and customizable, it is today an icon of radical design, still produced by Cassina.
Cassina
Cassina was founded in 1927 in Meda (Milan) by Cesare and Umberto Cassina, inaugurating industrial design in Italy in the 1950s. The brand's identity is found in an original union where technological aptitude is closely linked to traditional craftsmanship. Cassina maintains its ancient heart, the carpentry, the linchpin of all its workmanship. It is characterised by a transversal culture of absolute quality, which makes each Cassina piece unique.
Paolo Deganello
Paolo Deganello, born in 1940 in Este, is an Italian architect and designer known for his radical approach to design. Co-founder of Archizoom Associati in 1966, he helped redefine the language of architecture and design with a provocative and experimental aesthetic. After the dissolution of the collective in 1974, he worked with companies such as Cassina, Driade and Zanotta, designing iconic pieces such as the AEO armchair. In addition to designing, he has dedicated himself to teaching and his works are exhibited in international museums. Deganello continues to influence design with an innovative and critical vision.
