With "Elements", Valentina Cameranesi is inspired by the rural and pastoral nature of Sardinia. The coat rack, made of iron pipes, has a simple and functional design, but the additional elements go beyond simple decoration. A rock, a sphere, a wave reminiscent of a cactus, opaque thorns, a shell, a rustic ladder: these natural details seem to emerge from the structure itself. The customized finish recalls the colors of the pink salt pans of Sant'Antioco.
Pretziada
Pretziada is a creative practice based in Sardinia that promotes the heritage of the territory through words, photography and a collection of design objects made with local artisans. Californian-born Kyre Chenven and Milanese-born Ivano Atzori moved to southwest Sardinia four years ago to work with artisans on the rebirth of local craftsmanship. Sometimes they work directly with artisans, curating specific creations, while other pieces are the result of short trips they take with international creatives, introducing them to the island and its culture.
Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi
Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi is an independent creative director and set designer based in Milan. Born in Rome, she studied product design at ISIA, starting her career in the publishing industry and as an illustrator. She worked in the product design department of Diesel Industries and as art director for photo shoots and catalogues. She currently collaborates with Enrico Pompili, developing projects as a set designer, interior designer and creative director. Her personal research explores the relationship between the artificial and the natural through various media, including photography, video and ceramics. For SEM (Spotti Edizioni Milano), she designed the ‘Simultanea’ collection, a series of marble vases and trays that channel centrifugal and centripetal forces into sculptural forms.
Fratelli Argiolas
The Argiolas Brothers are a family of Sardinian craftsmen specialized in metalworking. About fifty years ago, Antonio Argiolas founded a shop in Pirri, near Cagliari. Today, his four children proudly manage the business: Oscar takes care of the prototypes, Giuseppe and Giorgio take care of the production, while Marcella takes care of the relationships with the customers. Their collaboration with Pretziada, which began in 2016, led to the creation of objects that blend tradition and contemporary design, such as the Ceremony Fireplace Set, designed by Parisian designer Ambroise Maggiar and created by the Argiolas Brothers.
