Francesco Binfarè

Francesco Binfaré was born in 1939 in Milan. Artist, designer and creative director, he is defined by many as the master of "soft design": his furnishings with soft and enveloping shapes seem to express a design that "embraces" and responds to the needs of the modern world. Known in particular for his sofas, Francesco Binfaré has created highly expressive seats such as the Pack sofa by Edra, in which the base resembles an ice floe and the backrest takes the form of a soft bear lying on its side. After his artistic training with his father, Francesco Binfarè began working with Cassina, directing the Cesare Cassina Center from 1969 to 1976. In 2002 he began relationships with the Edra brand, with which still collaborates today. The designer proposes a new way of experiencing relaxation through highly dynamic, versatile and multifunctional sofas with new shapes such as the Flap sofa, the Standard sofa and the On the Rocks modular system completely devoid of rigidity.
