The Continuum armchair, designed by Gio Ponti in 1963 for Bonacina 1889, is an icon of Italian design that expresses a continuous and sinuous line, inspired by organic forms. Handcrafted in Italy, it features a hand-curved and precisely woven rattan structure, without the use of machinery. The armchair is available with a rattan and wicker structure in Moro color, while the cushions are offered in a wide range of selected fabrics and leathers.
Bonacina
Bonacina 1889 was born in 2015 from the merger of the two companies Vittorio Bonacina and Pierantonio Bonacina. In 1889, in Lurago d'Erba, Giovanni and Pietro Bonacina founded the company Fratelli Bonacina, drawing inspiration from the local tradition of basket making and applying the technique of weaving rush and wicker to the world of furniture. Over the years, the two brothers took different paths and created the two companies, reunited today after years of separation.
Gio Ponti
Gio Ponti, born in 1891 in Milan, was an Italian architect, designer and professor. In all the sectors in which he worked, from interior to contract, Gio Ponti was the bearer of a message and a new perspective: the invitation to surround yourself with beauty as an incentive to enjoy life in its entirety. In 1947 he dedicated himself to the magazine Stile, carrying forward his desire to spread art and architecture with the creation of the "culture of living". In 1954 he invented the Compasso d'Oro award and in 1956 he created the Pirellone in Milan, considered one of his greatest masterpieces. He died in Milan in 1979.
