Carl Hansen & Søn
Carl Hansen founded his company on the firm belief that high-quality craftsmanship and mass production could go hand in hand, thus guaranteeing the end consumer a high-quality product at a reasonable price. Even today, this simple but important idea is the basis of Carl Hansen & Søn's production, which combines cutting-edge production technologies with traditional woodworking techniques. Much of the furniture produced today was designed by some of Denmark's greatest architects between the 1930s and 1960s.
Strand & Hvass
Industrial designer Christina Strand (born 1968) and architect Niels Hvass (born 1958) founded their design studio in Copenhagen in 1998, with the aim of combining their skills to create innovative and functional solutions to universal design challenges. Their design philosophy is user-centred, deeply rooted in Scandinavian culture and based on research and an emphasis on functionality. The result is a collection of simple and intuitive, expressing a profound knowledge of the potential of materials.
