Karakter’s Principal Table, designed by Bodil Kjær in 1961, is a perfect example of functional elegance and timeless design. Crafted from a solid wood frame and a refined tabletop, the table stands out for its clean aesthetics and balanced proportions. Its minimalist silhouette, inspired by modernist architecture, makes it suitable for any environment.
Karakter
Karakter is a Danish company founded on the spirit of exploration and quality. They offer design objects, from furniture to objects and lighting, with a clear Scandinavian influence but at the same time looking at the international scene. They collaborate with contemporary designers such as Aldo Bakker and PlueerSmitt but also produce masterpieces by masters such as Joe Colombo and the Castiglioni brothers.
Bodil Kjær
Born in 1932, she is the female trailblazer of mid-century Danish design. Although she was a pupil of the master Finn Juhl, she has always had an eye towards America, taking inspiration from Charles and Ray Eames. Indeed, many of his most notable projects originated during his time in the United States, where he worked briefly at Paul McCobb, before moving to Boston to pursue his career in corporate interior architecture. Elegant and modern, its iconic pieces fit into our contemporary life, even after 60 years. Today Bodil Kjær has returned to Denmark and lives on the east coast of Jutland, where she continues to teach and do research.
