The iconic 925 Scarpa lounge chair stands out for its understated elegance and clear structural expression. It is immediately recognizable by its solid wooden frame and the refined contrast it creates with the lightness of the leather-covered seat and backrest. Designed in 1965 alongside the 121 Scarpa dining chair, the 925 is a clear expression of Afra and Tobia Scarpa’s design approach. Both chairs share the same double trestle structure with distinctive rounded joints and today form part of the Karakter collection.
Karakter
Karakter is a Danish company founded on the spirit of exploration and quality. They offer design objects, from furniture to objects and lighting, with a clear Scandinavian influence but at the same time looking at the international scene. They collaborate with contemporary designers such as Aldo Bakker and PlueerSmitt but also produce masterpieces by masters such as Joe Colombo and the Castiglioni brothers.
Afra & Tobia Scarpa
Tobia and Afra Scarpa have marked Italian design with a perfect balance between craftsmanship, innovation and aesthetic research. Trained at the IUAV in Venice, they collaborated with industry icons such as Cassina, Flos, B&B Italia and Molteni. Among their most famous creations, the Soriana armchair (Compasso d'Oro 1970) and the Coronado sofa. In addition to design, Tobia has curated architectural projects for Benetton and restorations of historic buildings. Their works, exhibited in the most important museums in the world, continue to inspire contemporary design.
