Isamu Noguchi
Isamu Noguchi, born in Los Angeles in 1904, was an American architect, designer, sculptor and set designer of Japanese descent. He studied at Columbia University and in China to pursue his studies in brush drawing and in Japan for those in clay work. After the war, he came into contact with Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging, which gave him an interest in Zen gardens and an openness to monumental art. He was a world-renowned designer of public spaces.
