For the redevelopment of selected spaces within Building 5 at Politecnico di Milano, Spotti Milano developed and supplied a series of modular USM solutions designed to support the evolving needs of the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering – DABC. The intervention is located within the historic Leonardo Campus, originally inaugurated in 1927 as part of the expansion of Città Studi.

The project redefined the internal layout of the first, second and third levels of the north and west wings through a more open and adaptable spatial approach. New glazed partitions increase permeability and natural light throughout the interiors, reinforcing the relationship between the building’s historic structure and its contemporary academic functions.

Within this context, the USM systems introduce a restrained and modular architectural language that integrates with the building’s original materiality and existing metal structures. Conceived to remain flexible over time, the furnishings contribute to the creation of functional, coherent and visually balanced working environments while preserving the identity of the historic architecture.
