The Soriana collection, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1969, is an icon of Italian design that has revolutionized the concept of informal and sophisticated comfort. Characterized by soft and generous lines, the Soriana uses an external metal structure that envelops the padding, creating a cozy and welcoming effect. This innovative design approach earned it the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1970.
Cassina
Cassina was founded in 1927 in Meda (Milan) by Cesare and Umberto Cassina, inaugurating industrial design in Italy in the 1950s. The brand's identity is found in an original union where technological aptitude is closely linked to traditional craftsmanship. Cassina maintains its ancient heart, the carpentry, the linchpin of all its workmanship. It is characterised by a transversal culture of absolute quality, which makes each Cassina piece unique.
Afra & Tobia Scarpa
Tobia and Afra Scarpa have marked Italian design with a perfect balance between craftsmanship, innovation and aesthetic research. Trained at the IUAV in Venice, they collaborated with industry icons such as Cassina, Flos, B&B Italia and Molteni. Among their most famous creations, the Soriana armchair (Compasso d'Oro 1970) and the Coronado sofa. In addition to design, Tobia has curated architectural projects for Benetton and restorations of historic buildings. Their works, exhibited in the most important museums in the world, continue to inspire contemporary design.
