The Laleggera chair, designed by Riccardo Blumer in 1996 for Alias, represents an innovation in design thanks to its lightness and formal simplicity. The structure is made of solid maple or ash wood, filled internally with polyurethane foam to ensure resistance and limited weight. Stackable and versatile, "Laleggera" was awarded the Compasso d'Oro ADI in 1998 and became part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York in 2009.
Alias
Alias was founded in 1979 by Enrico Baleri and Marilisa Decimo together with Carlo and Francesco Forcolini. From the beginning, the founders focused on exploration in design and experimentation with new materials, a value immediately recognized and appreciated by design enthusiasts throughout Europe. The first projects were Broomstick, the series designed by Vico Magistretti, and the Spaghetti Chair by Giandomenico Belotti. Alias is a creative force, an experimental laboratory and a workshop for young designers such as Mario Botta, Paolo Rizzatto and Alberto Meda, free to express their vision.
