The Seconda chair, designed by Mario Botta in 1982 for Alias, is an icon of contemporary design. Its painted tubular steel frame supports a perforated sheet metal seat and a cylindrical polyurethane foam backrest, offering a balance between geometric form and functionality. This distinctive design reflects Botta's architectural approach, combining rigorous lines with comfortable elements.
Alias
Alias was founded in 1979 by Enrico Baleri and Marilisa Decimo together with Carlo and Francesco Forcolini. From the beginning, the founders focused on exploration in design and experimentation with new materials, a value immediately recognized and appreciated by design enthusiasts throughout Europe. The first projects were Broomstick, the series designed by Vico Magistretti, and the Spaghetti Chair by Giandomenico Belotti. Alias is a creative force, an experimental laboratory and a workshop for young designers such as Mario Botta, Paolo Rizzatto and Alberto Meda, free to express their vision.
